Telling the story of a brand always makes me swoon, hence the existence of The Brandom in the first place. Each entrepreneur featured to date has truly told the story of their journey on this entrepreneur train and what inspires and motivates them. And that in itself is inspiring. Meet the owner of 3 Zee’s Clothing Enterprizes, Nikisha Williams. 3 Zee’s is an online clothing store which caters to every woman. Nikisha says that her brand is “eclectic with a hint of vintage modern that includes comfortable clothing that suits the needs of the everyday woman”.
For Nikisha, 3 Zee’s is very close and special to her heart. “The name was inspired by my three sons, Zidane, Zayne and Zarek, hence the 3 Zee’s. Three different children who somehow complete me as a person. Zidane is the introvert, Zayne the extrovert and Zarek is a bit of the both. Their names and their style directly influenced our unique style for the business”.
3 Zee’s has been in business for almost four years now and Nikisha admits that it quite challenging as she has to juggle managing her brand with having a full time job. “The most challenging part is not being able to be at my store during peak times”.
So how did it all begin? “I bought the business from a relative that was migrating. I didn’t have a clue what I was getting myself into. But as time passed my passion grew. It was not always smooth because I had to find my own identity as an entrepreneur and a brand. An identity that would distinguish me from the previous owner and from everyone else”. So Nikisha rebranded the business to 3 Zee’s and that in itself was a milestone for her. “For me, rebranding this business and finding my own identity to make my brand unique, is certainly one of my wins so far. We decided to close the store front and take some time out to redefine our brand and essentially come back with a whole new shopping experience”. And Nikisha certainly did just that as 3 Zee’s is fully online now and she uses the digital world to grow her brand.
Nikisha admits that her husband is the main person responsible for selecting inventory. “My husband, Kuvie, believes that every item he selects has a story to tell. And most women, if not all, wear clothing that is a representation of themselves and how they would want others to view them and their unique style. He loves selecting pieces because he knows that a good outfit if worn properly, has the ability to change the mindset of the person wearing it. And this is exactly what we’re about at 3 Zee’s”.
So with her brand, 3 Zee’s testing her multi-tasking skills, Nikisha has learned a lot of lessons since she started her business. Her advice for other entrepreneurs is simple. “Fear is the destroyer of dreams. Remove fear and your dreams manifest into reality”. And she’s right. I’ve spoken to so many entrepreneurs who admit that fear is one of their barriers and Nikisha’s advice is spot on. She adds “Believe in yourself and your gift, be confident and consistent and trust In God. The universe will do the rest”.
And when it comes to building brands, Nikisha also has some advice to give. “A brand is what gives your business individuality. It’s what makes you stand out. Your brand is your business’ identity. It’s more than a logo. It’s what you live by and it represents what you stand for as an entrepreneur. A business is the medium by which you advertise and sell your products whereas your brand is your identity its what makes you unique”.
As for the brand community here in Trinidad and Tobago, Nikisha sees so much potential. “Our local brand community together shows how talented and unique we are as a people. Every brand has a unique story to tell. They are all different but yet connected in some way. I’m seeing a community of entrepreneurs all coming together for one common purpose and that is what that make us so diverse”.
